Project: Biker Mariachi

A digital painting by Jackson Lamme

Biker Mariachi is about interesting interactions between different cultures, and the digital canvas size is roughly 7 feet tall!

Below is the painting set into a room in a digital 3d space with a 200 foot high ceiling! The place is a castle I've been working on for many years, and is comprised of a painting and a digital environment.

This was painted in Photoshop, and much of my work was screen recorded, so I have some cool timelapse videos of its evolution.

Project: Party on the Space Plane

Maya, Photoshop, Arnold, physical stop motion.

In the fictional universe of Jackson Lamme's resume, Taylor Swift is an alien queen and commands a fleet of private jet spaceships, volunteering for various causes including community service, and helping those in need.

Below is an image of a typical setting on the wing of her jet- there are hand drawn characters flung into the 3d world, with actual paper stop motion babies floating around in 0 gravity.

This detail is one of the best pictures of my painting, I snapped it back in 2018. This is the bottom right portion of the Adoration of the Magi. This particular detail surpasses even the current state of this section, since I painted over and sanded down the original and lost much of the detail, and have yet to finish it. The original photograph wasn't very high resoltion, so it has been upscaled using AI. All the work remains by hand. The details are impressionist and unfinihsed, yet it astill works!

Major Project: Adoration of the Magi

This project was the reason I got into 3d animation. It began as an oil painting and I am turning it into an animated 3d world.

But now the sheets are fastened permanently to the board, which is actually 4 boards bracketed together which is harder to move! As you can see I enlisted the help of some elephants to carry it while traveling across NY:

I have painted 3 different versions of this picture not counting when i first started with paper taped together as I kept expanding it. I had the paper versions copied onto a new canvas that I then worked on.

The above image is a "render" of the scene which I built. Maya uses a renderer called Arnold which creates very high quality images, or keyframes. The above image is keyframe #147

My scene is far larger than most scenes, I have over a million trees, and lots of grass and complex geometry. Dealing with problems is basically what you do when your making a project like this. The render was tough to make work, and there are "artifacts" on the scene, geometry is flashing, but overall the completion of the following render was a huge achievement for me.

The above version was finished in 2007

I had the painting photographed and printed onto paper twice the size(17 x 7) and split into 6 sections to paint over as a separate project. Below is the bottom right 1/6th

I never finished this version of the painting, the above 1/6 was allI did.
